Publicist Lee Phillips (Billy Crystal) is leaving the office on his last day at Kingman Studios, when CEO Dave Kingman (Stanley Tucci), the man who fires him, suddenly begs him to stay. A high-profile press junket is coming up, one only Lee can handle. It involves bringing an estranged couple, movie stars Gwen Harrison (Catherine Zeta Jones) and Eddie Thomas (John Cusack)—America’s sweethearts—together again after a lengthy and public divorce battle. The chance of Lee reuniting these stars is slim to begin with and will be absolutely impossible without the help of Gwen’s sister and personal assistant, Kiki Harrison (Julia Roberts).
