After an armed Soviet submarine goes missing, Agent 007 (Roger Moore) is dispatched to locate it before it can be put to use. KGB operative Anya Amasova (Barbara Bach) is tasked with the same mission, and after repeatedly running into each other, she and James Bond reluctantly ally themselves. Together, they traverse Egypt as a part of their investigation and discover that the mastermind behind the submarine theft is shipping tycoon Karl Stromberg (Curt Jergens). Confronting Stromberg and retrieving the stolen sub will require storming Atlantis, a remote, deadly underwater fortress.
