A rare polymorph—It’s up for debate Whether The American President is a romantic comedy billed as A biting political drama or the other way around… but either way, it’s fantastic.

United States President and widower Andrew Shepherd (Michael Douglas) is waltzing into an election year, hopeful and somewhat assured of a second term. He has the full support of his cabinet and most of the country, it seems, until his courtship of a lobbyist (Annette Bening) throws his character into question and his romantic life into the spotlight.

SUMMARY
Michael Douglas gives such a definitive performance as POTUS you might swear you voted for or against him. Superb writing and cast chemistry go a long way in this feat of theatrical promise from the same director who brought us When Harry Met Sally… (1989) and the writer who brought us The West Wing (1999-2006).
