Dirty Dancing (1987)

“‘Class’ic for its time-old class struggle, and magical for the catch-fire of youth.”

Regan Humphrey

In the summer of 1963, big-hearted and doe-eyed “Baby” Houseman (Jennifer Grey) vacations with her family at an upscale resort in the Catskills. While there, she falls in love with Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze), a dance teacher at the resort. Falling for Johnny means becoming embroiled in resort staff drama, and the woes of the resort staff force Baby to grow up. The magic of youth and the power of dance underscore this quintessential 80s coming-of-age story about finding your convictions and finding the beat.
